Nokia N80 Smartphone - Wi-Fi - 3G - Slider

Just awesome!!!

Strengths: compact,well designed

Weakness: none

This phone is so great it has everything I need. I can't seem to put this phone down. I like all the functions it does I can't ask for anything more. I just wonder if Nokia will ever come up more with a better phone than this one. The Nokia N80 has all you need to be on the go.

Fantastic

Strengths: Quad-band, WiFi, 3.2 MP, hi-res screen

I have been a loyal Sony Ericsson user for many years until I tried this phone. I tried K790a, but this has all the functionality (3.2 MP camera, multi-band, etc.) plus 900 mhz which is needed in some countries. The most valuable feature for me is Wifi connectivity which the other lacks. The mini-map browser is really cool and you can surf at hi speed. The phone with Symbian S60 is highly programmable and you can personalize most everything and add software to have hundreds of other functionality like making the phone work as your webcam! If you are reading this, you would have a chance to buy the "Internet Edition" which was just release in the US. With that, you can use Gizmo VIOP which has very low international rates and even free to many countries when calling other Gizmo users. The worst thing I noticed is the voice recorder. First, you can only record for 20 seconds at a time. Second, it has an annoying and loud beep every five seconds which is a requirement in many European countries. However, you can buy Symbian software (less than $15 for Ultimate Voice Recorder) which eliminates this issue. Finally, the problem I discovered is that after installing some Nokia software, the vibration alert stopped functioning. I am trying to resolve this with Nokia, but many claim that it is actually good since vibration hurts the camera lens!

One of the best cell phones on the market

one of the best, I have just bought the N80 and it is a nice change from the tired motorola. I can see how this will also be a killer for ipod

Better phone than most competitiors offer... and at a great rate!

Strengths: OS offers many nice tools and features, sliding design

Weakness: Performance between applications a little sluggish, battery life

I was in a limbo over getting this phone or the N90, but trust me the features of the N90 are all useless statistics. This phone gets the 1st job accomplished, which is establish a solid phone for making calls. All the additional features make it worth the $400 price tag. Even though the unit looks bulky, its really not that heavy (I suggest having a case to carry it on your belt). Switching...

Even though the unit looks bulky, its really not that heavy (I suggest having a case to carry it on your belt).

Switching between applications can be a bit slow, but not totally disappointing. Also, much like many current phones on the market, the battery life isn't great. I purchased additional batteries for those lengthy business trips.

Overall, the phone satisfies the needs of the common business user, and is well recommended!

Nokia N80

Viewed from one side, the Nokia N80 looks like a typical slider phone. Turn it around and it resembles a compact pocket camera. And with a camera resolution of 3 megapixels, it's no mere facade. Add in 3G, Wi-Fi, EDGE, and quadband connectivity, along with music and video playback, and the nearly $600 list price seems almost palatable.
